Green and Better Building Advisory Committee Established in Delaware

Shortly before adjourning for the year, the 147th Delaware General Assembly passed Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 34, which formally established a “Green and Better Building Advisory Committee” in Delaware. This legislation, which DVGBC’s Delaware Branch Advocacy Committee has been taking the lead in supporting for months, will bring together a diverse group of public and private sector individuals with expertise in sustainable building design to advise the General Assembly and the Governor.

Sponsored by Senator Harris McDowell, Senator David McBride and Representative John Kowalko, SCR 34 was approved in the Senate by a vote of 13-8 and passed the House by a voice vote early this morning. The creation of this committee is a step forward for green building in Delaware and will create opportunities for constructive conversation and policy among public, non-profit, and private sector players in the green building community. This success demonstrates the great leadership in Delaware, both in the General Assembly and Administration of Governor Jack Markell.
