WE THE PEOPLE of the Delaware Valley, in order to form a more perfect region and transform our communities into healthier, more prosperous places for people to live, work, and learn, make a pledge to our community.

Our region is rich with history, and it's one of the things that we're known for around the world.  But we also want the world to know that organizations, companies, schools, governments and individuals across our region are working hard to ensure that current and future generations have access to a healthy environment, good jobs, and the opportunity to contribute to better communities.  Collectively, that work is our future.

This is what leadership looks like.

Our 2013 Challenge Pledge exhibit is officially on display at the Independence Visitors Center at 6th and Market Streets in Philadelphia! Check out the 150+ pledges of sustainability that have come in all around the region, and then create your own, now through February 2014! If you can't make it to the exhibit, tweet a photo of yourself holding your 2013 Challenge Pledge and use the hashtag #itgetsgreener.

The 2013 Challenge Pledge program was also featured nationally in the cover story of the November/December edition of Green Building Design + News, "What Can We Green by Greenbuild?".

From the City of Philadelphia committing to green affordable housing, regional companies making changes in their operations and business lines, and universities making progress on their climate action plans, we, the people, are making a difference.

Check out Heather Shayne Blakeslee’s feature, “We, the People, Still Making History" on the national USGBC Blog to find out more DVGBC's vision for the 2013 Challenge Pledge.   The pledge program also received recognition from Flying Kite Media and we're looking forward to a feature this fall in Green Building Design + News.
