The O’Neil zero energy home is an award winning and LEED for Homes Gold certified residence using structural insulated panels (SIPS), and was a pioneer Green Home in our area. The home was built at market rate and is designed to produce as much energy as it consumes on a net annual basis, utilizing a 5.25 kw Solar PV system, a super-insulated, super-airtight building envelope, solar orientation and a geothermal heating and cooling system.
This custom built residence by Creswell & Company is pending a LEED for Homes Platinum certification and is a finalist for the 2010 Energy Value Housing Award. The home demonstrates responsible building practices both in the construction process and in the finished home such as passive solar, solar PV, geothermal and more. The builder paid special attention to energy consumption and waste during the building process, using a mobile solar generator and an intensive recycling program coupled with waste reduction practices.
Jon Costanza’s home and SunPower Builder's solar-powered office represent an unwavering commitment to sustainability and responsible energy use, and serves as a practical demonstration of alternative energy. The site includes an energy efficient 1703 farmhouse, and a 9.6 kw ground mounted solar PV system that completely powers the SunPower office, as well as solar hot water, geothermal heating, stormwater and graywater systems.
